It written by Perry, Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, and Joshua Coleman, and produced by the last three, with Gottwald and Coleman credited as Dr. Luke and Ammo.

Kanye Omari West (born June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, singer, and record producer. West first rose to fame as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, where he eventually achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z's album The Blueprint, as well as hit singles for musical artists including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet Jackson. His style of production originally used pitched-up vocal samples from soul songs incorporated with his own drums and instruments. Music Publishing, the song was originally published in F minor and follows a slow tempo of 76 beats per minute in common time. Perry's voice spans E♭4 to D♭5. According to Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times, "E.T." carries influences from Barbadian singer Rihanna and features Perry using a "hip-hop diva's stutter". The song's instrumentals have been described as "a mishmash and bleeps and blips with a driving drum track". Darryl Sterdan of the QMI Agency noted the song uses the "stomp-stomp-clap" beat from Queen's "We Will Rock You" (1977), while Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine noted similarities to productions by Ryan Tedder. Matthew Perpetua of Rolling Stone felt the song was similar in sound to hard rock ballads by Evanescence. According to Perry, the song is about "falling in love with a foreigner". Using metaphors about extraterrestrials, she sings, "You're not like the others / Futuristic lover / Different DNA". The chorus has Perry addressing her lover: "Kiss me, kiss me / Infect me with your loving / Fill me with your poison", claiming to be "ready for abduction". For its single release, the song was reworked to feature two verses from Kanye West, which continue the extraterrestrial metaphors. Opening the track with "I got a dirty mind / I got filthy ways", he then goes on to say, "They callin' me an alien / A big-headed astronaut". West contributes another verse before Perry's final refrain, with heavily Auto-Tuned vocals: "I know a bar out in Mars / Where they driving spaceships instead of cars". He finishes with a reference to the fictional character Shrek and lyrics of "alien sex": "I'mma disrobe you then I'mma probe you / See, I abducted you so I tell you what to do." The National Post's Ben Kaplan noted West's presence on the track was similar to his work on his fourth studio album, 808s & Heartbreak (2008).

"E.T." has received mixed reviews from professional critics. It has been noted for bringing out a different side of Perry, with a darker, deeper, and more mature tone. This was praised by BBC Music's Al Fox who enjoyed the contrast from her conventionally upbeat pop tracks like "Hot n Cold" and "California Gurls". Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly felt Perry showed strength on the song, comparing its sound to a combination of American rock musicians Lita Ford and Trent Reznor. Matthew Cole of Slant Magazine disliked the track's inscrutability and said that "E.T."'s backing track was reminiscent of t.A.T.u.'s "All the Things She Said" (2002). Now's Jason Richards called the song "awkward" and Sputnikmusic's Rudy Clapper dismissed its attempt at a more mature sound, calling it "cheesy". Bill Lamb, writing for About.com, gave a three-and-a-half star review out of five: he was disappointed with the lack of a defined hook, remarking the song could have had more potential and that its "edginess builds without release." Reviewing the remix, critics were divided over West's appearance. Kaplan lauded the track as a "great duet", praising the vocals of both performers, a statement echoed by Lamb, who felt West's verses intensified the song. Further, Entertainment Weekly's Brad Wete felt the song was improved with a male perspective. Digital Spy's Robert Copsey gave a review of four stars out of five, but felt, on the other hand, that the rapper's contribution added nothing to the track. Amos Barshad of New York felt West's alien metaphors went into "strange directions".

The song charted at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release as a promotional single, selling 64,000 digital copies. On the same week, "E.T." debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at number 13. In Australia, the song debuted at number twelve and peaked at number five for two weeks starting February 6, 2011. It has since been certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association for sales of 70,000 units. One week after debuting at number 17, "E.T." topped the New Zealand Singles Chart on January 31, 2011, becoming her sixth number-one in the country, and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand. On February 26, 2011, the song entered Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart at number 36, and has peaked at number 3. The song has reached at number 27 on the Dutch Top 40, number 35 on the Czech airplay chart, and number 64 on the Slovak airplay chart. On March 5, 2011, following its single release featuring West, the song re-entered both the Billboard Hot 100, at number 28 with 110,000 copies sold in its first week, and the Canadian Hot 100, at number 18. The song has since sold over one million copies and has topped the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Perry's fifth song to do so, and West's fourth. Ending the six-week run of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", this feat makes Teenage Dream the ninth album in the history of the chart to yield four number-one singles. "E.T." has also peaked at number 8 on Billboard's Pop Songs chart, as well as number 5 on the Canadian Hot 100. The single has peaked in Ireland at number 11, in Austria at number 14, Australia at number 53, and on the Ultratip charts of both Belgian regions at numbers 7 (Wallonia) and 10 (Flanders). On the UK Singles Chart, the single peaked at number 29 in its fifth week on the chart.

A music video for "E.T." with West was released on March 31, 2011, premiering on MTV.com. The date was announced in a teaser trailer released on March 21, 2011, which showed clips of an unidentified flying object. The video was directed by Canadian Floria Sigismondi, known for her "dark, feminine" music videos for artists including Christina Aguilera and Marilyn Manson. In an interview with NRJ's French radio show Le 6/9 on March 10, 2011, Perry revealed she was satisfied with her decision to collaborate with Sigismondi, after having previewed a 30-second clip. In the video, Perry, as an alien, drifts through outer space before landing on an abandoned Earth covered with litter. Clips are interspersed of large felids hunting game. She comes across a broken robot, which turns into a naked male, played by Shaun Ross upon her kiss. It is eventually revealed Perry's legs are in fact those of a gazelle. Meanwhile, West is featured in the video floating in a travelling spacecraft. Do we have to go in person to the SSN office to apply for SSN based on EAD for a person who's on H4 before ?

was wondering if someone on H4 uses EAD then that person is no longer on H4 status ... now being on H4 if the same person applies for SSN based on EAD card - what will be the implication ... will there is any change in status or status will be changed from H4 to EAD only when that person takes an employment position �

As mentioned by my HR attorney applied my labour application electronically on march 17th and forwarded me a case number starting with c , so i am assuming it was appl;ied at chicago center.

Its more then two months now i did not have any update from my HR inturn from attorney.
At the time of aplying attorney did not took any signature either from me or my HR , she said we have to sign at the later stages.

My fear is I might get a query or it may go into incomplete staus as it was not filled properly.
I am not sure if it should be filed in that way ....
Let me know if i am heading in right direction ...

Signature is not required for filing. u need to sign form 9089 if there is an audit or approval.

I applied for H1-B visa on April 2007 and the petition was approved from October 2007 to 26Th of September 2010 but when I came to USA consulate office to get the visa it became pending putting under administrative processing. It took almost 3 years to get the reconfirmation and last week I received the visa.
The visa issuing date is 27Th May and the expiry date is 24Th August but there is another date in bottom right part of it as PED : 26 September 2010 which is my petition's expiry date.
Now I am planning to move to USA for a long term stay so that I am selling my stuff, renting my house,.. and I just got confused by considering this date.Does this mean my visa will be expire on September and my H1 visa is just for some months? In this case does this mean I have lost 3 years of the total 6 years of the H1 visa? or the the officer issuing the visa on I-94 form in the ports of entry can issue the visa for 3 years as a normal H1-B visa?

I have arranged with my employer to start the job on 10Th of July and I will enter USA on 8Th, so up to 26Th of September which is the PED date will be less than 3 months and if the white I-94 card that will be in my passport should correspond with the expiration of the petition, the total of my work duration, will be less than 3 months which really doesn't make sense at all but as it seems that's it!

It seems now the only way is to apply for H1-b extension. So there will be these questions:

1- how will be the process and how much are the fees?
2- How long does it take?
3- Do I have to go back to my home country to get the new stamp for extension?
4- Is there any way to renew it in USA ?
5- Is 2.5 months of work enough to apply for extension? or I have to come sooner if it is really necessary.
6- In my first interview on 2007 they got all the original documents from me and never return them back to me. should I ask for duplication?
7- Is there anything else that my employer and I should know and consider?

I have to know the answers to these questions, first to arrange with employer and to see if they are interested and also to decide about our stuff, jobs, properties,... in my home country before entring the USA, otherwise it can be the loose of everything for us.

PAST THE PERMISSIBLE 6 YEARS OF H-1B STAY

1. AC21 104 (c) - Approved I-140 Petition = Extension of H-1B Visa Status in 3 Year Increments.

� Under Section 104 (c) of AC21, the beneficiary of an approved I-140 who is prevented from filing an adjustment of status application due to application of worldwide OR per-country limitations may be granted an extension of H-1B visa status in 3 year increments pending eligibility to apply for adjustment of status.

� There is no requirement that the foreign citizen have a Labor Certification or immigrant visa petition pending for one full year prior to the expiration of the foreign citizen's 6th year of H-1B visa status.

� However, there MUST be an approved I-140 to access this benefit.

� This benefit does not apply to dependents who have reached 21.

2. AC21 106 (a) - Pending Labor Certification or
Employment Based Immigrant Visa Petition = Extension of H-1B Visa Status for 1 Year.

� Section 106 (a) of AC21 permits H-1B non-immigrants to obtain an extension of H-1B visa status beyond the 6-year maximum period, when:

(a) 365 days or more have passed since the filing of any application for labor certification, Form ETA 750, that is required or used by the foreign citizen to obtain status as an EB immigrant; or

(b) 365 days or more have passed since the filing of an EB immigrant visa petition.

� Extensions may only be granted in one-year increments, but may be requested on a single (combined) extension request for any remaining time left in the initial 6-year period.

� Must establish that the above criteria were or will be met either on or before the requested start date on the H-1B extension application.

� Thus, a foreign citizen is eligible for an extension of H-1B visa status beyond the 6th year as long as either the qualifying labor certification application or I-140 immigrant petition has or will have been pending for at least 365 days prior to the foreign citizen�s requested start date, regardless of whether the H-1B extension application was filed prior to the passage of such period.

� If the foreign citizen would no longer be in H-1B status at the time that 365 days from the filing of the labor certification application or immigrant petition has run, thus leaving a gap in valid status, then the extension of stay request cannot be granted.

� A request for an H-1B extension beyond the 6-year limit should not be denied on the sole basis that an I-140 petition has not yet been filed.

Although I need my passport desperately, I dont want to spend a fortune on a last min. flight or drive for 16 hours, just to hear that I did not wait for 8 weeks as I am supposed or that I can only receive it through mail. Unless I am 100% confident that I will get it, I do not want to go there, atleast not till the end of February. Especially, I dont want to go there in depseration and pay $150 for the tatkaal.The employees neither justlify their salaries nor the positions they hold which were primarily meant for helping Indians in US.

I personally believe, that just being an Embassy somewhat explains the delays in DC office but clearly, it does not justify the attitiude of the employees there.

actually, i think that the EB3 will also make rapid advances come October.
with the quota exhausted for this year, and the pre-adjudication taking place and with most of the EB3 India applicants having received their GC between 2002 and 2005, i think the dates will advance to 2003 by Dec and to mid 2004 by Feb/March. After that, it is anyone's guess if the quota for India will hold out. As for me, I see at least another year or two wait for my GC, unless the Congress passes a miracle.

you have to give the H1 qualifying exam (I think Step 3), then you have to apply for Residency in universities. They all call you for personal interview, and the results are announced in mid march. Once you are selected, they'll process H1 for you. If you do not have step 3 cleared, then they'll process J1 visa for you. Most of these universities come under non-profit so, H1 quota is not a issue for them.

If your job (description, location and salary) remains same or similar under the new company:

If the 485 has not yet been filed, you are required to amend the 140. You can file amendment and 485 together.

If the 485 is pending, in most cases do nothing. After 180 days, you are safe, anyway.

If your job has changed :

If 485 has not been filed, you are in trouble. You have to start the green card process over, but you keep your priority date if 140 is approved.

If 485 is pending for 180 days, the jobs need only be similar.

My OPT EAD A# and I-140 A# are different.

When filling the forms, use the A# number from your I-140, if available. If not, fill with "None". Do not leave it blank. When my attorney filed my I-140 papers, they filled "None" for A#. Later after I-140 approval when they filed for my H1B renewal, they used the A#.

From what I know, in case you don't have an approved I-140 and hence an A#, you will be assigned one with the I-485 receipt. Therefore, in my opinion, you should NOT use your OPT EAD A# for the I-485 and related forms.

My friend's wife got a job. company didn't ask for ead card so far. she filed the employment applicaiton where they asked her if she is a citizen or green card, she filled everything correct, they made an offer and did the background check, she is supposed to start in 2 weeks.
Question, does she need to disclose about EAD now or wait until start give the information while filling I-9 Form. Does employeer right to not hire people on EAD?
Please clarify.

If possible go and meet them They will help you. or even better have your employer also write to them expalining the circumstances.

I did follwing things so far...

1) Wrote Congressman (Informed that I should get adjucation by 60-120days)
2) Wrote Senator,(Informed that I should get adjucation by 60-90days)
3) Wrote Ombudsman.,(Informed that I should get adjucation by 60-90days)
4) Called USCIS and raised thre SR so far.
5) Talked to IO atelast once a week since last one month. (Asked to wait for weeks everytime)
6) Had infopass past week : confirm teh case assigned to IO on Oct.17th

My background check is clear VISa is available PD ius current...Everything is ready to go....Except that sleeping IO should wait up and cleare his desk.:mad:
ONLY think now I need to do is track the IO and identify and contact him and wake him up and ask to do the needful.:D
