The ultra-odd artist Daniel Edwards, who is best known for sculpting Britney Spears giving birth on a bear-skin rug has come back with something new and original. This time the artist has sculpted a life-size piece that features boyfriend Justin Bieber, 17, and girlfriend Selena Gomez ,19. The ultimate teen couple are naked in the statue that has been titled “Justin and Selena as One,” and in it they share a leg.
A maple leaf (he’s Canadian) was utilized as a cover for Bieber’s… unmentionables. And a lone star for Gomez (she’s Texan). Below the two stands a Canada goose and a Texas armadillo. For what reason? The answer to that remains a mystery to even us as Daily.
Edwards elaborated his artwork as a representation of “both Canadian exceptionalism and Texas-American exceptionalism.” He added that the deeper meaning of the piece was to take a shot at the exploitation of teen stars in today’s society.
The sculpture is to be presented at New Fine Arts. Do not be fooled by the casual name, that is actually a Dallas-area porn shop. “Finally, a retail establishment that makes me proud of Dallas,” wrote the store’s lone reviewer on its Yelp entry.
On top of this somewhat controversial piece of work, the artist has completed a number of rather unique sculptures alike. Edwards has made waves crafting Angelina Jolie double breastfeeding her twins, a dead Paris Hilton and the Octomom as an actual Octopus.
