Jude Law cleared of assault charges

Jude Law has been cleared of assaulting a paparazzi photographer. The actor was arrested on September 4 for allegedly assaulting a photographer outside his home in London. He was taken to a central London police station, interviewed and later released on non-monetary police bail. The case was forwarded to state prosecutors for deliberation. "The police has told me that they and the CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] have examined the photographer's allegation carefully and made the decision that there is no further action to be taken," Law said. The actor's legal team hotly disputed the assault claim. "Mr. Law provided the police with a statement regarding his denials of allegations by a 'paparazzi' photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer," his legal rep said in a statement following the incident. Scotland Yard originally required Law to return to a police station but now confirms that no charges will be filed against the 34-year-old actor.

Jude's lawyer issues statement

Jude Law's attorney issued the following statement this afternoon on behalf of his client in response to his alleged attack of a paprazzo in London yesterday:

"I can confirm that Jude Law voluntarily attended Marlyebone Police Station yesterday following an alleged incident outside his house earlier in the day. Mr. Law provided the police with a statement regarding his details of allegations by a 'paparazzi' photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer. Jude has the utmost respect for the police and whilst this is an ongoing matter no further comment will be made."
